• DeSoto Co. Justice Court judge was driving drunk during arrest, court docs show (fox40jackson.com) — A DeSoto County Justice Court judge who serves the southern part of the county was arrested in Hernando on DUI and careless driving charges after a Saturday evening traffic stop on West Valley Street. Hernando police handled the arrest, and a Hernando judge later released her on recognizance; she is currently expected to keep hearing cases, with a court date set for April 1, 2026.
   

• Hyde-Smith Votes Chamberlin as U.S. District Court Judge (picayuneitem.com) — A Hernando resident, Mississippi Supreme Court Justice Robert P. Chamberlin, has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve on the federal bench for the Northern District of Mississippi. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith praised his judicial record and community service, noting his selection by President Trump. Another Mississippi justice, James D. Maxwell II of Oxford, is also moving toward possible confirmation.
   

• DeSoto County DA launches billboard campaign aimed at keeping Memphis criminals out (fox13memphis.com) — Hernando residents are seeing a new hardline anti-crime push from the DeSoto County District Attorney, who’s launching billboards and digital ads warning would-be offenders from Memphis to stay out. Funded through seized criminal assets rather than tax dollars, the campaign targets drug dealers and other offenders, promising prison time and even vehicle forfeiture for those who cross into the county to commit crimes.
