Arnold Stream Team 211 Hauls Tons of Waste from Meramec Floodplain

They say there's lots more to do. The next cleanup is at Arnold City Park on March 3.

On Saturday, Feb. 18, Arnold Stream Team 211, along with the Open Space Council and the Metropolitan Sewer District helped improve the habitatΒ near the Baumgartner Wastewater Treatment Lagoon.

Fifty-one volunteers helped remove 40 cubic yards of trash, approximately 35 yards of scrap metal, and over 250 tires from the area. See the entire list of items collected at the cleanup on Arnold Stream Team 211's Facebook page.

"There’s a lot more to do yet," said Bernie Arnold, one of the organizers. "This is all on the St. Louis County side, across from the Arnold City Park."

He said there was old stuff, like from old clubhouses, and new trash that floated in. He said which-ever way the wind blows determines which side of the river the trash ends up on.

Arnold Stream Team 211's next cleanup is at the on March 3. Arnold said he thought there will be more maintenance at that one, and not so much trash-removal. Get there by 8 a.m. to help out.
