Poetry Contest at Arnold Library Branch

There are three age-group categories in the contest.

The Arnold Branch of the Jefferson County Library is holding its 14th Annual Poetry Contest. It began accepting submissions on Jan. 3 and will continue until Feb. 29.

Here are the contest rules, from the library:

  • Poems can be on any topic, but should be acceptable for public display.
  • Poems should be at least three lines long, but no longer than one typed page.
  • Poems must be original, unpublished works of art.
  • Poems must be typed on white paper without your name on it.
  • A completed entry form must be turned in with each submission:[ Single Entry ] [ Multiple Entries ]
  • Winners will be decided by a group of judges to be selected by the librarians of the JCL-Arnold Branch.

Three winners will be selected from each category:

  • 5-11 years
  • 12-18 years
  • 19 years & older

Winners will be notified by phone. Entries must be turned in to the Arnold Branch of the Jefferson County Library by 9:00 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 28.

Poems will be displayed at the Arnold Branch through March 31. All participants are invited to share their poems at the Awards Ceremony and Poetry Reading on Thursday, March 29, at 7:00 p.m. at the Arnold Branch.
