Seckman Underclassmen Could Win State Wrestling

As a team, Seckman sits in third place going into the final day of wrestling in Columbia.

Seckman wrestlers are in third place, in points, in the final day of competition at Mizzou Arena in Columbia.

Two Seckman wrestlers, freshman Weston Basler (106) and sophomore Brock Wingbermuehle (120) are still in the hunt to win championships. Both will wrestle later today in the finals.

Basler’s record now stands at 46-5. He’ll meet Joe Velliquette (52-1) from Nixa. Bassler won with a technical fall in the Championship Round 1, a pin in 3:24 in the quarterfinals, and a 5-4 battle in semifinals to make it to the finals.

Wingbermuehle’s record is 47-6 heading into the championship match. He’ll face senior Hunter Neighbors (55-2) from Jefferson City. Wingbermuehle won by fall in the Championship Round 1, quarterfinal and semifinal rounds.

Seniors Danny Farrell (126) and Matt Kraus (132), and junior Kaleb Cheek (152) Β are in the consolation brackets and could still finish as high as third.

Fox senior Dominic Vitale (170) is also in the consolation brackets and could go as high as third place.

As a team, Seckman is in third place, with 77.5 points, going into the final rounds. Park Hill is second with 112 and Blue Springs leads with 121.5. Fox is in 30th place with 14 points.
