Giant Inflatable Colon Stolen In Kansas City
The giant colon, which is used to teach about the dangers of colon cancer, is valued at $4,000.

KANSAS CITY, MO — A giant inflatable colon used to teach about the dangers of colon cancer was stolen, according to the University of Kansas Cancer Center. The colon was in the city to be used in the Sisters Living Beyond The Ribbon 5K relay walk in support of women fighting breast cancer.
The cancer center said the colon is valued at $4,000 and was stolen from a pickup bed parked in Brookside.
“Colorectal cancer screening is the most powerful weapon we have against colorectal cancer,” John Ashcraft, DO, surgical oncologist at The University of Kansas Cancer Center, said in a press release. “Colon cancer is a tough subject for many to talk about and the giant, 150 pound, ten foot long inflatable colon is a great conversation starter.”

The colon is owned by the Cancer Coalition which hosts runs and walks under a campaign called "Get Your Rear In Gear," according to the press release.
The organization ships the colon to runs and walks across the country to educate people about the progression of colon cancer.
