Jackson County Prosecutor: KC Man Charged In 2019 Fatal Shooting Alongside Red Bridge Road Near 71 Highway
According to court records, Kansas City police were dispatched to the area of U.S. 71 Highway and Red Bridge Road on a reported body.

A Kansas City man has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting in August 2019 of Elliott Herring along U.S. 49 in south Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.

Douglas V. Griffin, dob: 11/17/1993, faces Murder 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action charges.*
According to court records, Kansas City police were dispatched to the area of U.S. 71 Highway and Red Bridge Road on a reported body. Police found the victim on the ground, next to a Mitsubishi Galant, deceased from gunshots. Detectives determined the vehicle was associated with the defendant. Police later found the victim's vehicle, abandoned near 55th Street, not far from the defendant's residence. An analysis of cell phone records found the defendant and an associate in the area of the homicide around the time of the homicide.

The defendant remains in custody.
