Health leaders warn that a recent measles case tied to Kansas City International Airport shows how quickly these diseases can spread, and they’re urging residents to get recommended vaccines to protect families and vulnerable infants.
   

2. Restoration project considered for blighted Downtown KCMO building (fox4kc.com) — A proposed $484 million makeover of the historic Scarritt Building at 8th and Grand could bring a five-star hotel, live music venue, and new apartments to downtown Kansas City. City leaders and nearby businesses say the 800 Grand Project could transform a long-blighted stretch of Grand Boulevard, though developers are seeking $109 million in tax incentives.
   

3. Kansas City Stays Losing Biz: Lockton Leaves Country Club Plaza (tonyskansascity.com) — Lockton, a major insurance firm long headquartered on Kansas City’s Country Club Plaza, is moving its offices to a new campus in Leawood, Kansas. The departure of one of the Plaza’s biggest tenants raises fresh concerns about the district’s future and Kansas City’s ability to keep major employers, even as city leaders stress regional cooperation over competition.
   

4. Lawsuit: Hardee's manager worked 80-hour weeks, then fired after disability leave (kctv5.com) — A former manager at a Hardee’s on Highway 24 in Kansas City is suing the franchise owner, alleging he was overworked, then fired after taking approved medical leave. Filed in Jackson County Circuit Court, the lawsuit claims disability discrimination, retaliation, and false reports to police, and now heads toward a case management conference in April 2026.
   

5. Homegrown Royals stars surprise local kids with holiday shopping spree (kctv5.com) — Kansas City Royals prospects Carter Jensen and Noah Cameron treated Urban Youth Academy kids to a surprise $500 holiday shopping spree at a Northland Dick’s Sporting Goods. The homegrown players, backed by teammates Bobby Witt Jr. and Michael Wacha, also handed out autographed baseballs and capped the night by taking the entire group out to dinner.
