KC Water's Blue River Wastewater Treatment Plant Without Power

The plant lost power during overnight storms, meaning untreated wastewater is being discharged into the river.

KC Water’s Blue River Wastewater Treatment Plant lost power during overnight storms. This means the plant cannot treat wastewater and is currently discharging untreated wastewater into the Blue River. Crews are working to restore power as quickly as possible.

The Blue River Wastewater Treatment Plant located at 7300 Hawthorne Road is Kansas City’s largest wastewater treatment plant. The plant treats more than half of Kansas City’s wastewater.
