Last week's Springfield restaurant health code violations, Dec. 8-12 (ozarksfirst.com) — If you ate out in Springfield or nearby last week, local health inspectors were busy checking kitchens from Campbell Avenue to Glenstone and Battlefield. The report lists which Springfield restaurants passed cleanly, which need reinspections, and common issues like sanitizer levels, food temperatures, and date-marking—helping you decide where to dine with confidence this week.

2. City of Springfield installs speed humps on neighborhood streets near Highway 65 (ky3.com) — New speed humps are now in place on several east-side Springfield neighborhood streets near Highway 65, aiming to slow drivers who were reportedly hitting 65 to 70 mph. As part of a pilot program tied to resurfacing projects, the city will collect data this spring, and residents can still request similar traffic calming for their own streets through Springfield.gov or by phone.

3. Bears look to take advantage of bowl game to sell program (ozarksfirst.com) — Missouri State fans in Springfield will see offensive coordinator Nick Petrino lead the Bears in the upcoming Xbox Bowl after head coach Ryan Beard’s departure. Athletics Director Patrick Ransdell says a national coaching search is underway and believes Thursday’s nationally televised ESPN2 game is a prime chance to showcase the program’s FBS debut season and attract strong candidates.
