2 Minors Killed While Playing With Gun On Instagram: Report

The two cousins from St. Louis, ages 12 and 14, were making a video when a freak accident occurred, according to family members.

ST. LOUIS, MO β€” The family of two cousins who were killed in a shooting Saturday say they were playing with a gun while filming on Instagram Live, according to NBC St. Louis.

The gun went off multiple times in what the family called a "freak accident," according to the report.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department classified the case as a murder-suicide and announced the victims as Paris Harvey, 12, and Kuaron Harvey, 14. Police found both children dead in a family apartment on Spruce Street after receiving reports of the shooting at around 2 a.m. Friday, according to authorities.

The family told NBC St. Louis that Paris was playing with the gun when it went off and hit Kuaron. The gun went off again when it was dropped, hitting Paris, according to family members.

"We are sending our heartfelt condolences to the family of 12-year-old Paris Harvey and 14-year-old Kuaron Harvey, who tragically passed away," SLMPD said in a social media post over the weekend.
