Here are the top four stories today in St. Louis:

  1. A body was found by firefighters yesterday in the rubble of a local puppet theater. Bob Kramer’s Marionettes was located in the Central West Building on Laclede Avenue, which was destroyed in a fire the night before. Kramer and his partner, Doug Feltch, ran the theater for about sixty years, building their own marionettes and putting on shows, earning international fame. (Subscription: St. Louis Post-Dispatch)
  2. Down the road in University City, the annual Loop Ice Carnival returned yesterday to celebrate its 16th anniversary after a brief hiatus during the pandemic. The Loop’s unique event provided fun for hundreds and a big boost to local business. Attractions included ice sculptures, face painting, and even a live ice-carving demonstration. (KSDK.com)
  3. A spree of overnight car break-ins Friday night has residents of The Grove neighborhood frustrated. Multiple cars were broken into and vandalized, leading to costly repairs for many. The St. Louis Metro Police are investigating the crimes but have not released any information about potential suspects. (KTVI Fox 2 St. Louis)
  4. The St. Louis Public Radio will now hold a vote on unionization. Employees of the station were β€œdisappointed but not surprised” after their request to be voluntarily recognized was denied by the University of Missouri. The station has 42 employees and operates under the University of Missouri-St. Louis. (Subscription: St. Louis Post-Dispatch)
