Get ready, St. Louis β€” music legend Martha Wash is headed your way! For one night only, on Thursday, July 17 at 7:30 p.m., the two-time Grammy-nominated powerhouse will light up City Winery St. Louis with her electrifying Love & Conflict Tour. Known for her unmistakable vocals on iconic anthems like β€œIt’s Raining Men” and β€œGonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now),” Wash is bringing a new sound, a new message, and all the vocal fire fans have come to love.

The Love & Conflict Tour offers a dynamic showcase of Wash’s artistic evolution. This isn’t a greatest hits set β€” though longtime fans will surely be delighted by the throwbacks β€” it’s a bold, soul-baring journey through blues-rock, adult contemporary, and emotionally driven ballads. Drawing from her acclaimed album Love & Conflict, the concert blends romance, heartbreak, resilience, and unapologetic truth. Produced by Sami Basbous, the album and tour represent a striking departure from Wash’s dance music roots, highlighting her stunning versatility as an artist.

β€œMy producers pushed me outside my comfort zone into a new musical direction, and the result is both uplifting and thought-provoking,” Wash shared. β€œI believe everyone will find something to connect with in these lyrics, and each listener will take away their own personal message from the music.”

The tour has been met with rave reviews, selling out venues across the country including City Winery Chicago and Joe’s Pub in New York City. Rolling Stone described the single β€œNever Enough Money” as β€œa stomping, rough-around-the-edges blues rocker anchored by a righteous vocal performance,” while The New York Times called it β€œa pounding funk-Afrobeat indictment of greed” delivered with β€œfull gospel-rooted grit and a mounting fury.”

While this new music is a revelation, Wash’s voice has been a driving force in pop and dance music for more than four decades. Her vocals helped launch some of the biggest hits of the β€˜80s and β€˜90s β€” from β€œStrike It Up” with Black Box to the unforgettable refrains of C+C Music Factory. She rose to stardom as one half of the legendary duo The Weather Girls, whose hit β€œIt’s Raining Men” remains a dance floor anthem and pop culture staple.

But behind the music is a woman with a story as powerful as her voice. Wash began her singing career in her parents’ San Francisco church, later studying opera and touring Europe before making waves in pop and dance music. Her extraordinary range and fearless genre-bending have kept her career both timeless and fresh. And with Love & Conflict, she’s proving that even after decades of success, she’s still evolving and challenging expectations.

Fans attending the July 17 show at City Winery St. Louis can expect an evening that’s both intimate and emotionally charged. Wash will not only perform favorites from her dance heyday but will also unveil the depth of her new material β€” music that speaks to life’s joys and trials with honesty and soul.

Don’t miss your chance to witness one of the most powerful voices in music history live on stage. Whether you're nursing a broken heart, celebrating love, or simply craving a night of world-class music, Martha Wash’s St. Louis stop promises to be a standout moment of the summer.
