James lived a life filled with adventure and purpose. He was born on May 25th, 1948 to parents Ernest and Hilda Dunning, in East St. Louis, Illinois. James graduated from Lebanon High School in 1966 and went on to study at Saint Louis University. In 1970, James graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering and started his career drafting for McDonnell-Douglas. James dedicated many years to aviation before devoting himself to education. He retired as a professor at Southwestern Illinois College.
James not only excelled, but also inspired countless individuals with his passion and dedication. James was a lifelong learner, always seeking new knowledge and experiences. His hobbies were as multifaceted as his intellect. He spent many joyful hours woodworking, crafting intricate pieces with care. He also loved remote-controlled planes and model trains, hobbies that combined his love for precision and engineering with his playful spirit. James found joy in nature, camping and fishing. Everything he loved was captured through his photography.
