Some residents of a Central West End apartment building were evacuated after part of the building collapsed Saturday afternoon. The five-story building is located in the 4900 block of West Pine, near Euclid. Part of façade on the fourth and fifth floor has partially collapsed, and five units have been evacuated, one from each floor on that side of the building, firefighters tell News 4. Residents of all five units are displaced. "We were just taking a siesta, and I was lying down on an air mattress. All of a sudden, I heard a thud," Puttur Prasad explained. Coincidentally, Puttur Prasad was helping his daughter move out this weekend. They had already gotten most of her stuff out of the apartment, but were shocked to hear they had to move even quicker. "Moving out, I was scared after seeing what it was. I was like 'okay, there's a sense of urgency,' who knows what more could happen," Niyathi Prasad, Puttur's daughter, said. Puttur Prasad was just one of the several residents forced out of their units earlier Saturday. Some of them, moved to vacant units inside of the building. However, Puttur Prasad said she's apprehensive about staying in the building all together.
