ST. LOUIS, MO β A new startup is offering on-demand lawn mowing services through an Uber-like mobile application to homeowners in St. Louis. Dubbed MowMagic, homeowners can request lawn care service and indicate whether they will provide the mower. Anyone can sign up to be a provider through the app, letting neighbors, local high school students or anyone make a few bucks mowing lawns, without paying for equipment or marketing.
βOur goal is to pair people who could use some extra money with people who need their lawns mowed,β said Ryan Leffler, St. Louis native and co-founder of MowMagic. βThrough our app, people who donβt have time to mow their own lawn can have their lawn mowed when they want, for how much they want, and with their own equipment.β
Founded by Leffler and Mike Braun, the service will have one mobile app dedicated for consumers and another for providers. (Get the android apps here.) Consumers' accounts will be linked to a credit card for payment through the app, the business owners say. To request a service, users can set their home location, a price they are willing to pay, and schedule a time or immediate request. Once a provider accepts, the two will receive a text message to allow for open communication. Once the job is complete, consumers can then review the work.

On the other side of the operation, the provider app will link to users' bank accounts and make weekly deposits. Providers can set a radius for how far they are willing to travel, and will receive job notifications with maps, prices, times, and consumer ratings. Once they've done the job, they can rate consumers just like consumers can rate them.
MowMagic is available to all of the Greater St. Louis area at this time with hope to expand to other areas in the future, the startup said in a news release.
