Here are the top 3 stories today in Billings:

  1. Six Girl Scouts from Montana and Wyoming were awarded the 33rd Annual YMCA Principal’s Leadership Award for their exceptional academic performance, community involvement, and leadership skills. The recipients were chosen by their principal or supporting staff from elementary and middle schools in Billings School District #2 and other public/private schools. The Girl Scout awardees included students from various elementary schools, such as Bench Elementary and Boulder Elementary, and were praised for their leadership qualities, such as determination, confidence, and kindness. 2. Ten individuals were arraigned on Friday in federal court in Billings on charges related to methamphetamine trafficking. The defendants were accused of operating a meth trafficking ring on the Crow and Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservations, as well as in Yellowstone, Big Horn, and Rosebud counties. Seven defendants face charges in a multi-count indictment that includes meth trafficking, firearms, and money laundering offenses, while four other defendants face meth trafficking charges in three companion indictments. (KTVQ)
  3. A former mail carrier in Billings is facing a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct after he allegedly pepper-sprayed a dog on the South Side in February. The incident was captured on a neighborhood surveillance camera, and the video went viral online. The dog's owner, Katie Guzman, said that the 2-year-old dog named Sunka is doing better, and she hopes the incident will prevent other dogs from being sprayed. The former mail carrier, Frank Hoon Park, made his first appearance in Billings Municipal Court on Thursday and is no longer employed by the U.S. Postal Service. (Q2 News)
