Fish Printing Workshop at Billings FWP Office December 23 (theoutdoorwire.com) — Billings residents can join a free fish printing workshop on Tuesday, Dec. 23 at the local FWP office on Lake Elmo Drive, creating unique gifts for anglers. Staff will give a short talk on Montana fish species, then teach gyotaku printing on canvas bags and any cotton clothing participants bring.
   

2. Artists: City of Billings Seeks Cartoon Tree Mascot Creator (kmhk.com) — Billings artists are invited to design “Pondo,” a cartoon Ponderosa pine mascot for the city’s Parks, Recreation & Public Lands Forestry Division, with entries due January 19. Submissions must be original, non-AI artwork showing Pondo in three poses, and the winning artist earns $400 while helping promote urban forestry education to local youth.
   

3. Billings plans January water shut-offs for 300 customers, starting with the largest balances (ktvq.com) — Hundreds of Billings residents with the largest overdue water balances could lose service starting Jan. 12, unless they set up payment plans with the city. Officials are also bringing back a consultant to review the entire water billing system and may add automated phone alerts, as they continue grappling with high bills and customer complaints across Billings.

Man rescued from stuck car in Riverfront Park during busy days for Billings tow trucks (ktvq.com) — A man suffering from hypothermia was rescued from his stuck car in Billings’ Riverfront Park after spending the night trapped in a hard-to-reach area. The incident capped a hectic weekend for Billings-area tow trucks, which pulled numerous vehicles from ditches and slick roads, prompting reminders for drivers to pack blankets, food, and water for winter emergencies.
   

5. Billings Senior football coach and players reflect on legacy of Daylis Stadium (ktvq.com) — Billings school officials have broken ground on a $15 million renovation of historic Daylis Stadium, promising new grandstands, turf, locker rooms and a track. Senior High’s coach and players say the upgrade honors decades of family football memories while creating a state-of-the-art home field for future Billings athletes and fans.
