Montana Hazardous Weather Outlook: Bone-Chilling Cold, Snow

BILLINGS, MT — A hazardous weather outlook was issued Tuesday morning for central, south-central and southeastern Montana, as well as north-central Wyoming as weather forecasters predict the region will see light snow and plunging temperatures dipping as low as 10 degrees below zero.

The National Weather Service said the region can expect to see daytime high temperatures of 10 to 20 degrees, as well as low temperatures of 10 below zero to 0 degrees.

Up to 2 inches of snow was possible as well, mainly for south-central Montana and Sheridan County, Wyoming. Little snow was expected in southeastern Montana.

In Billings, forecasters said there's a 30 percent chance of snow, mainly after 11 a.m. Tuesday. Temperatures would reach a high of about 23 degrees and daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch was possible.

Snow was likely Tuesday night in Billings, with a low of around zero degrees, the weather service said. With the wind chill, it'll feel more like 15 below zero, and less than an inch was possible overnight.

On Wednesday, the weather service said highs would dip to just 11 degrees, with wind chill values as low as 15 below zero.
