Missoula is a place like no other. And whether you grew up here, recently moved to the area or you’re just an occasional visitor, you know that Missoula has its own special traditions and history that make it so unique.
A few things to know:
- Missoula is home to the International Wildlife Film Festival, which attracts filmmakers and wildlife enthusiasts from around the world. The festival features screenings, panel discussions and workshops focused on the natural world.
- The Missoula Art Museum is a must-visit destination for art lovers. The museum features a diverse collection of contemporary art, as well as special exhibitions and programs throughout the year.
- The Garden of One Thousand Buddhas is a unique spiritual attraction near Missoula. The garden features a thousand hand-cast bronze Buddha statues arranged in a circular pattern, as well as beautiful gardens and meditation spaces.
- The Rattlesnake National Recreation Area is a beautiful natural area located just outside of Missoula. The area features hiking and biking trails, fishing spots and stunning mountain views, making it a great spot for outdoor recreation.
- Missoula is home to the Smokejumper Visitor Center, which tells the story of the brave men and women who fight wildfires from the air. Visitors can learn about the history and techniques of smokejumping, and even try on a real smokejumper's gear.
