Emergency authorization fast-tracks 33,000-acre timber project along Rock Creek, Clark Fork (bozemandailychronicle.com) — A decade-long, 33,000-acre logging and fuels-reduction project near Rock Creek and the Clark Fork has been fast-tracked under emergency authorization, including 4,000 acres in the Missoula Ranger District. Forest officials say Tyler’s Kitchen will reduce wildfire risk and support timber jobs, while a Missoula-based environmental group questions the limited environmental review and impacts on roadless areas and scenery along I‑90.
   

3. Trump administration's cannabis reclassification could impact Montana (kulr8.com) — Missoula’s cannabis sector could see major changes as the Trump administration weighs moving marijuana from Schedule I to Schedule III, opening the door to medical recognition, research, and tax relief. A Missoula-based beverage company leader predicts the shift could spur hiring, reinvestment, and safer, better-understood products across Montana’s legal cannabis industry. Local growers also say expanded research is overdue.
   

4. Three killed after car collides with semi-truck on Interstate 90 near Drummond (kpax.com) — A 40-year-old woman from Missoula was among three people killed when their car spun into oncoming traffic and hit a semi-truck on icy I-90 near Drummond. Montana Highway Patrol says the crash split the car into three pieces, and investigators are looking at speed as a factor while the truck driver from Utah was uninjured.
