Building department overhaul goes before Carson supervisors (nevadaappeal.com) — Carson City supervisors this Thursday will weigh ending a private building-division contract and bringing permitting back in-house, a move staff say could save money and support economic development. The board will also consider renaming and restructuring Community Development, review the city’s clean annual audit, fill key committee seats, and take up zoning and Silver Oak development changes that shape local growth. 
2. Carson school trustees grade superintendent ‘superior' (nevadaappeal.com) — Carson City’s school board has again rated Superintendent Andrew Feuling “superior,” praising his communication with trustees and role in boosting the district’s Nevada School Performance Framework star totals. Trustees highlighted his fiscal management and instructional leadership, while suggesting more bilingual outreach and support for student intervention systems. Feuling credited the board’s stability and collaboration for the district’s progress.
3. Carson City firefighters extinguish small fire at Boeing Way building, cause investigated (carsonnow.org) — Carson City firefighters quickly put out a small desk fire early Monday at a commercial building on Boeing Way, preventing further damage and reopening the building after clearing smoke. The cause of the fire at 1980 Boeing Way remains under investigation, but no extended closure or major disruption was reported for nearby workers or businesses.
4. Carson City prepares for domain change next month (2news.com) — Carson City will switch its official website to CarsonCity.gov on January 8, with all city email addresses changing to the new .gov domain by January 1. The move is meant to boost security, reduce fraud risks, and give residents more confidence when interacting with city services online. Locals can call the IT department with questions about the transition.
5. Carson wrestling counting on newcomers (nevadaappeal.com) — Carson High’s wrestling program is entering a new era under alumnus Branden Lamborn, who’s leading an unusually young but hungry squad of 11 new starters.
