Carson City police seek help identifying suspect in vehicle theft case (foxreno.com) — Carson City deputies are asking for your help identifying a white two-door flatbed pickup with black wheels tied to a vehicle theft near the 1700 block of Rand Court around 4 a.m. on Oct. 28. If you recognize the truck or have security footage from that area and time, you’re urged to contact the Carson City Sheriff’s Office or Secret Witness.
   

2. Night Off the Streets Warming Shelter Moves to Lutheran Church (carsonnow.org) — Carson City’s Night Off the Streets winter shelter has moved to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at 1201 N. Saliman Road for December, with doors open nightly from 9 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Guests are encouraged to use the 8:45 p.m. shuttle from 119 E. Long Street as the program continues helping the city’s growing unhoused population, especially seniors.

Cortez, Varner, Walker and Walt Honored at State School Board Conference (carsonnow.org) — Carson City School District staff and trustees brought home multiple top honors from the Nevada Association of School Boards, spotlighting local leadership that shapes students’ daily experiences. From longtime administrative backbone Renae Cortez to trustees Varner, Walker, and Walt, the recognitions highlight strong governance, community involvement, and budget oversight that directly affect Carson City classrooms and families.
   

4. Carson student wins honorable mention for Reading Week art (nevadaappeal.com) — Carson High School sophomore Kevin Mariscal has earned an honorable mention in the 2025 Nevada Reading Week Art Contest, giving Carson City students statewide recognition. His work was selected from among 660 entries, and the winning designs will be used across Nevada for apparel and social media during Reading Week in March.
