Here are the top three stories in Las Vegas today:

  1. Steven Ross, former Las Vegas mayor pro tem and city councilman, has died. Ross was 59 years old and will be remembered for his reliable, effective service to the city. He passed away peacefully at his home. There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, Sep. 20 at Palm Northwest Mortuary. (8 News)
  2. A Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officer shot and killed a man on Saturday morning near the University of Nevada, Las Vegas campus. According to the department, the man was firing at department officers. The incident was a result of a traffic stop that occurred near Flamingo Road and University Center Drive. The officer's identity has not been released. (Fox 5 Las Vegas)
  3. Clark County Public Administrator Rob Telles, 45, could stay in his elected position despite facing open murder charges. Telles could continue collecting the $130,000 per year salary until a new individual can take over in January 2023. He was arrested on Wednesday in connection with the murder of Las Vegas Review-Journal's Jeff German. (KFOR)
