Here are the top three stories in Las Vegas today:
- Two inmates at Ely State Prison have mailed envelopes containing a powdery substance to a Las Vegas courthouse. The incident was confirmed by the Nevada Department of Corrections. Authorities have identified one of the envelopes substances as harmless. The other envelope is still being investigated. No one has been injured during the incident. (KTNV 13 Action News Las Vegas)
- After declining for three months straight, home prices in Las Vegas appear to have stabilized. The data was presented through a report by Las Vegas Realtors. According to the report, the average price of a single-family home has not changed from August to September. Despite the recent decline, median home prices are still up by 10.7 percent compared to last year. (Fox 5 Vegas)
- A Las Vegas resident has been nominated to be included on the Nevada Gaming Control Board's list of excluded people. The list is regularly referred to as the "black book." The individuals on the list are banned from Nevada casinos. If Las Vegas' Leonard Morgan is included, it will be the second individual added in the last couple of months. He has been accused of being a casino chip counterfeiter. (ReviewJournal.com)
Patch deal of the day:
Wine lover alert. We found this amazing deal from Splash Wines — an 18-bottle curated selection of reds and whites for fall — for just $69.99. Shipping isn't cheap at $39.95, but that still comes out to just over $6 per bottle. Splash Wines has a money-back guarantee if you don't like the wine and 4.6 out of 5 rating on TrustPilot. So: recommended.
