Las Vegas Mass Shooter Researched Southern California Areas

A preliminary investigative report released by police showed Stephen Paddock may have scouted other areas before the October shooting.

LAS VEGAS, NV -- The man responsible for killing 58 people and wounding hundreds more during a country music festival in Las Vegas also researched areas in Southern California. The new details were released Friday in a preliminary investigative report by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

The report showed Stephen Paddock, who went on a shooting rampage from his Mandalay Bay hotel room on Oct. 1, searched several areas in southern California. The report said Paddock searched for Fairmount Miramar Hotel and The Bungalow in Santa Monica on Google Maps on May 18, 2017.

On the same day, he also searched "La Jolla Beach" and "how crowded does Santa Monica Beach get" on Google.
