Developing: Gunman at large after fatal shooting near Desert Inn Road & Maryland Parkway (ktnv.com) — Police are searching for a gunman after a man was fatally shot Sunday in a vehicle near Desert Inn Road and Maryland Parkway in the central Las Vegas Valley. LVMPD homicide detectives say the victim argued with several people before one opened fire, and they’re asking anyone with information or surveillance footage to contact investigators or Crime Stoppers.
   

2. Holiday travel rush not over yet in Las Vegas with America's Party on the horizon (ktnv.com) — If you’re driving or flying in or out of Las Vegas this week, expect heavy traffic on I-15 and packed parking at Harry Reid International as 340,000 visitors arrive for New Year’s Eve. Transportation officials urge locals to avoid peak southbound I-15 hours to California and to reach the airport early, with America’s Party set to make the Strip the epicenter of ringing in 2026.
   

3. Inmate killed inside cell at Clark County Detention Center (myhighplains.com) — Las Vegas Metro police are investigating the death of an inmate at the Clark County Detention Center after officers found him with apparent blunt force injuries during a late-night cell check. His cellmate, 41-year-old Chad Ollinger, has been rebooked on an open murder charge following what police describe as a physical altercation. The deceased inmate has not yet been publicly identified.
   

4. Basketball Recap: Western Falls Despite Big Games from Kyra Pace and Laila Lwaba (maxpreps.com) — A strong night from Mater Academy East Las Vegas girls’ basketball handed Western a 43-24 road loss, despite a double-double from Laila Lwaba. The Knights extended their win streak to eight and improved to 9-1, then edged Kenwood 73-72 on Dec. 26, while Western quickly bounced back with a tight 40-37 win over Westlake.
