Here are the top three stories today in Las Vegas:

  1. The North Las Vegas Police Department is investigating a single-vehicle collision that involved two children. The incident occurred near Camino Al Norte and Edna Crane on Sunday morning around 6:00 a.m. The woman driver fled the scene with the 2 unrestrained children. The department eventually detained the woman. The driver was impaired. The children were treated at UMC Trauma for critical injuries sustained during the collision. (News3LV)
  2. Search crews continue to look for a missing 75-year-old hiker on Mount Charleston in Las Vegas. The search started on Wednesday and is still ongoing as of Sunday evening. Rock Stanley was last seen by fellow hikers near the North Loop Trail. The experienced hiker decided to hike the trail solo this year. (Las Vegas Sun)
  3. Researchers are preparing to examine Las Vegas wastewater for traces of the polio virus. London and New York discovered traces of the virus in wastewater recently. There have not been any clinical cases in Southern Nevada yet. The UNLV team has used wastewater search technology to aid in monkeypox and COVID-19 response efforts. (Las Vegas Sun)
