  1. A local nonprofit is hosting its annual "Adopt-a-Family" holiday program for the eighth consecutive year. A total of 277 families signed up this year for the event hosted by the Women and Children's Center of the Sierra (WACCS), and organizers say 130 families are still up for adoption. 2. A suspect in several recent vehicle thefts at a Reno fitness center was arrested this week by the Northern Nevada Repeat Offender Program. Russell Lee Garner, 51, was booked on 12 counts, including vehicle burglary, identity theft, and credit card fraud. According to the Nevada Division of Parole and Probation, Garner also violated the terms of his release. (KOLO)
  3. A Washoe County judge has dismissed a lawsuit by the SPCA of Northern Nevada which attempted to block the construction of a Reno Iron Works facility. The suit aimed to overturn the Reno City Council's approval of the project on the grounds that noise and dust caused by the 40,000-square-foot factory would cause the shelter animals distress. Judge Kathleen Sigurdson dismissed the suit and stated the council had "adequately considered all the impacts to the shelter when approving the facility in May." (KRNV)
