Reno police deliver holiday cheer with $10,000 in toys to children living in motels (mynews4.com) — Reno police and community partners just brought more than $10,000 in toys and food directly to about 90 children living in 20 motels across the city. Officers spent the day visiting rooms, offering gifts and check-ins to families who often miss out on traditional holiday programs, highlighting a growing focus on community outreach in Reno.
   

2. Snapshot: Autumn Harry's new mural in Verdi, like her activism, is about protecting the Truckee River (renonr.com) — A new mural at Riverbend Park in Verdi is drawing Reno residents’ attention to how their actions affect communities downstream along the Truckee River. Artist and activist Autumn Harry, a Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe member, created the piece to honor wildlife and water while urging people in Tahoe, Reno and Sparks to protect the river’s health.
   

3. 8 cannabis packages removed from safety bulletin warning (kolotv.com) — Reno-area cannabis consumers are being told that eight previously flagged marijuana product packages have now been cleared and removed from a statewide safety bulletin. Nevada’s Cannabis Compliance Board says other Greenway Medical products harvested between August and November 2025 may still be affected by the unapproved Eagle 20 pesticide, so buyers should double-check lot or production run numbers on product labels.
   

4. Another successful ‘Toys for Tots' campaign at KOLO (kolotv.com) — Reno viewers just helped KOLO’s Toys for Tots drive collect 4,408 toys—twice last year’s total—for kids across Northern Nevada. Donations picked up Friday will go to children in Title I schools, the Children’s Cabinet, the Boys & Girls Club, and other groups, ensuring local kids wake up to at least one gift this Christmas.
   

5. Nevada Starbucks store closes as barista strike extends for days (rgj.com) — Reno’s two unionized Starbucks locations on South McCarran and Lakeside are closed as baristas strike over alleged unfair labor practices, pay, and scheduling. Workers have been picketing daily since Dec. 15, while Starbucks says most U.S. stores remain open and it’s ready to resume contract talks.
