📰 News we're reading

• Reno police seek public's help to find missing elderly woman (foxreno.com) — Reno police are asking for the public’s help to find 5-foot-9, 130‑pound Shellie Vickers, an elderly woman with mental health conditions who went missing Sunday near Silverada Blvd. She was last seen in Reno wearing a black-and-white Raiders knit cap, pink fuzzy jacket, blue jeans, and black shoes. Anyone with information is urged to call Reno Police or Secret Witness.

• Construction resumes on Reno home nearly 18 months after fire (mynews4.com) — Construction is finally underway again on a long-burned house in Reno’s Damonte Ranch neighborhood, after city permitting delays and insurance issues left it damaged and largely unsecured for nearly 18 months. Neighbors say the renewed work, sparked after recent media attention and a November permit approval, is noisy but welcome as they look forward to improved safety and closure on their street.

• Veterans' Christmas dinner more than a meal (kolotv.com) — Reno veterans recently gathered at the local Senior Center for a long-running holiday dinner that’s become as much about camaraderie as the meal itself. Community 4 Vets and volunteers from several organizations served food, handed out warm clothing, and created space for veterans to relax, reconnect, and form new friendships. Funds came from a raffle held earlier this year, with planning already starting for 2026.
