Boarding for Breast Cancer Announces 19th Annual Skate the Lake

Summer Skate Series Event to Raise Funds for B4BC's Breast Cancer Education, Prevention and Survivorship Programs

Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC) is excited to kick off its Summer Skate Series in Tahoe City, Calif. with its 19th Annual Skate the Lake. The 28 (or 8) mile skate-bike-roll fundraising event will take place on August 6thand will include a Community Celebration on August 5th from 12 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Commons Beach, Tahoe City, CA. This push for prevention is welcome to anyone on wheels of all ages and abilities. Register now and start fundraising here.

August 5th Community Celebration

The weekend full of fun starts with a Community Celebration at Commons Beach, Tahoe City, CA, from 12-7 p.m., with live music from local Tahoe talents Honey Vixen, Bear Whiskey, Fragile Like a Bomb and more. There will be food and drinks, yoga, a silent auction and one of our biggest raffles yet! Come by to register, grab a goodie bag and meet the other skaters.

August 6th Skate-Bike-Roll

The 28-mile skate event starts with skaters meeting at 7:30 a.m. at 64 Acres for check-in and shuttles (next to the Tahoe City Transit Center). The shuttles will load sharply at 8:00 a.m. and head to Sugar Pine Point. At 9:00 a.m., it’ll be time to skate-bike-roll, ending at 1:30 p.m. at Commons Beach Tahoe City, CA. Participants can also join at the 8-mile drop-in point by meeting at noon in front of 22 Bistro at The Village at Palisades Tahoe. Following the event there will be an award ceremony and celebration at 2:00 p.m.

The two-day event will support B4BC’s mission of staying healthy and active to help prevent breast cancer and benefit the nonprofit’s education, prevention and survivorship programs.

The Skate the Lake fundraising goal is $50,000 and participants can register now, here. To register, all skaters must fundraise a minimum of $50. Registrants will receive an event t-shirt, a goodie bag and raffle tickets. Participants will earn ten extra raffle tickets for every $100 they raise and will receive Yeti Drinkware for raising over $150. Prizes will be awarded to the top three fundraisers in both individual and team categories.

Participants who can’t be there in person can join Skate the Lake virtually by registering, then cruising their favorite, local path or trail and posting to social media with the hashtag #SkatetheLake and tagging @b4bc. T-shirts will be mailed directly to participants and virtual raffle tickets will be awarded for every $10 raised.
