• Speed appears to be a factor in fatal crash, police said (kolotv.com) — A motorcyclist was killed Saturday afternoon in a crash on McCarran Boulevard west of Kietzke Lane in Reno, where police say speed appears to be a factor. Westbound McCarran was affected for several hours as Reno Police, Reno Fire, and REMSA responded, and investigators are asking anyone with information to contact them or Secret Witness.

• County commissioners to consider fire code updates, land use ordinances at Tuesday meeting (thisisreno.com) — Washoe County commissioners meet in Reno on Tuesday to vote on major fire code updates, land use rules, and more than $117 million in re-appropriated funds. The agenda also includes a new Registrar of Voters warehouse lease, Pleasant Valley sewer work, opioid grant funding for homeless outreach, and a housing incentives ordinance, with public hearings starting after 1 p.m.

• Support fund launched for children of fallen Truckee Meadows battalion chief and wife (mynews4.com) — A Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue battalion chief from Reno and his wife were killed in a Highway 50 crash, leaving their two children hospitalized in Reno with serious injuries. A dedicated support fund has been launched to help cover the kids’ ongoing medical care, counseling, education, and daily needs, with all donations managed by the Truckee Meadows Firefighter Foundation.
