- The City of Reno decided on Wednesday to approve a settlement of $250,000 with an ACLU legal observer. The legal observer, Rebecca Gasca, sued the city after being shot with pepper balls while she was acting as a legal observer during a BLM protest in 2020. (KOLO)
- From Feb. 10 to Feb. 28, the Washoe County Sheriff's Office will be increasing its patrols looking for impaired drivers in the area. The increased patrols are part of a program called Joining Forces in which the sheriff's office and other area law enforcement departments are planning to increase patrols. A grant from the Nevada Department of Public Safety/Office of Traffic Safety makes the program possible. (KOLO)
- Reno has already surpassed its averages for precipitation and seasonal snowfall this season — not even halfway through the start of the water year, which begins on Oct. 1 and lasts through Sep. 30. The city is also experiencing its coldest winter in nearly 15 years with the nearby weather station in Tahoe City on track to reach the coldest average winter that the area has seen since 1973.
