Here are the top three stories today in Reno:
- Downtown Reno is still planning to launch fireworks for New Year's Eve this weekend despite the weather forecast of winds and rain. The final call will be made on Saturday evening based on safety precautions. (Reno Gazette Journal)
- The Reno area is under a flood watch warning from Friday morning until Saturday night.The National Weather Service in Reno said that road closures many be possible and that heavy rainfall may result in flooding in flood-prone areas. (KOLO)
- Multiple Nevada courthouses are voiding thousands of traffic warrants in time for the new year. The Reno Municipal Court threw out around 1,900 traffic violations due to a new law that will go into effect on Jan. 1. The law will change minor traffic violations from criminal misdemeanors and convert them to civil infractions. (Las Vegas Review-Journal)
