Here are the top three stories in Reno today:

  1. The Peavine Fire, initially reported on Jul. 8 in nearby Dog Valley, is now completely contained and remains at eight acres. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire. Despite difficulties in accessing the area due to disrupted road systems caused by winter's snow and rain, crews continued to monitor the fire on Monday. (FoxReno.com)
  2. Communities In Schools of Western Nevada is organizing the seventh annual Fill the Bus School Supply Drive, which runs now through Jul. 28. The initiative aims to support almost 9,000 students in 13 K-12 schools in Washoe County by collecting donations such as school supplies, hygiene products, and clothing/uniforms. Various drop-off locations, including Nevada State Bank branches, Great Basin Federal Credit Union branches, and Reno Fire Department stations, are available from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays for people to contribute to the cause. Click the link for a full list of drop-off sites. (KTVN)
  3. The Punk Rock Flea Market, previously held in Sparks, will make its debut in Reno as part of Artown. Taking place on Jul. 16 and 17 at Great Basin Brewing, the event will showcase 14 bands, over 100 local vendors, food trucks, kids crafts, and a car smash. With a circus theme, attendees can expect carnival games, circus performers, mermaids, clowns, and face painters. (KTVN)
