Here are the top three stories today in Reno:

  1. Just after 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, a fire broke out in a duplex on Carville Drive and Sutro Street, resulting in two individuals being sent to the hospital. The Reno Fire Department responded swiftly, finding one person inside the unit and the other being a bystander. At this time, the victims' conditions are unknown. According to the Reno Fire Department, the fire caused significant damage to the unit, with assessment still ongoing for other affected units, and the cause of the fire remains unknown. (KOLO)
  2. The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is embarking on the construction of a new business college building as part of the Mathewson University Gateway project — a joint effort between the school and the City of Reno. The project was approved by the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents and will replace the outdated Ansari Business Building. The new facility, set to be completed in 2025, will provide modern amenities and expanded space to accommodate the College of Business's growth and meet the needs of the local workforce. 3. At the end of June, Reno Little Theater will present a month-long run of "Seussical the Musical," bringing beloved Dr. Seuss characters to life. Starting on Friday, Jun. 30, and continuing until Jul. 30, the show captures the essence of embracing authenticity and accepting others, as emphasized by director Shea King and actor Eric Boudreau, who portrays the "Cat in the Hat."
