- Tonight (Jul. 4), the RTC of Washoe County will offer free transportation on their RAPID Lincoln Line and Route 11 from 4:00 p.m. to midnight, allowing people to attend the Star Spangled Sparks fireworks show conveniently. Event-goers can take advantage of these routes to reach RTC Centennial Plaza in Victorian Square near the Nugget Casino Resort in nearby Sparks, where the event will take place. - The Nevada Humane Society is preparing for its ninth annual Duck Race, set to take place on Aug. 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Wingfield Park in Reno. The event aims to support homeless pets and offers participants the opportunity to win a brand-new car or a generous cash prize of $15,000, courtesy of the presenting sponsor, Carson City Toyota. - The Washoe County Clerk's Office in northern Nevada will offer passport services to the public beginning Aug. 1, providing a valuable resource for travelers seeking to obtain passports. The Clerk's Office will process new passport applications exclusively and has begun scheduling appointments from Jul. 1 for August appointments, also offering passport photo services for an additional fee. This initiative aims to address the region's lack of passport acceptance facilities and will be available Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Washoe County Complex Building A in Reno. - To help residents celebrate the 4th of July safely, the Washoe County Sheriff's Office and the Carson City Sheriff's Office have teamed up to patrol the waters of Lake Tahoe. Crews will be looking for safety violations and taking action for boat operators under the influence of drugs/alcohol as part of Operation Dry Water. (Washoe County Sheriff via Twitter)
