Jeremy Renner Seriously Injured In Reno Snow Plow Accident: AP

The 51-year-old best known for playing Hawkeye in "The Avengers" has a home in Nevada, The Associated Press reported.

RENO, NV — Actor Jeremy Renner, who is best known for playing the character, Hawkeye, in “The Avengers” was seriously injured in a snow plow accident on New Year's Day in Reno, NV, his representative told The Associated Press.

Renner suffered a traumatic injury in the area of Mt. Rose Highway around 9 a.m., the Washoe County Sheriff’s office said in a news release. When deputies arrived, they coordinated with Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District and Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority to arrange a care flight for Renner to an area hospital, the office said.

No one else was injured, according to the sheriff's office.

The sheriff's Major Accident Investigation Team "is currently looking into the circumstances of the incident," according to the news release.

Renner, 51, is in critical, but stable condition, his representative told AP on Sunday.

His representative, Sam Mast, told The Washington Post that the accident was “weather-related” and that he was plowing snow at the time.

Renner has been surrounded by his family and “is receiving excellent care” Mast told the outlet.

The extent of Renner's injuries was not immediately clear.

Renner, who has a home in Nevada, is a two-time Oscar nominee for the films “The Hurt Locker” and “The Town," AP reported.
