Here are the top three stories today in Reno:
- A license plate that reads “GOBK2CA” is being recalled again by Nevada’s Department of Motor Vehicles after receiving a complaint back in May. The owner of the license plate’s vehicle says he will be fighting to appeal the recall and has a hearing scheduled for later this week. According to the state, Nevada’s Administrative Code prohibits defamatory references to any person or group. (This Is Reno)
- With a procession through Reno, Nevada State Police and First Responders escorted Lt. Lorin Cordell’s family as they transported his remains home from the airport. The former Lieutenant tragically died in an accident while enjoying a family vacation in the Galápagos Islands. In honor of his legacy, the Nevada Police Foundation will be collecting donations to give to the Correll family that will help cover funeral costs and related expenses. (2news.com)
- The SPCA of Northern Nevada is required to pay Reno Iron Works a bond of $195,600. According to representatives, the SPCA claims the construction on the new Reno Iron Works site is negatively impacting their animals and being disruptive toward their daily operations. The bond will help cover some of the losses that the Reno Iron Works building endured while there’s a pause in construction. (KOLO)
