Find out what's happening in Renofor free with the latest updates from Patch.

  1. Reno's new police chief talked about her views on law enforcement's role in addressing homelessness in the community. In a recent interview, Police Chief Kathryn Nance said that victims of crimes deserve police services regardless of whether they are housed or unhoused and that arresting people isn't the way to solve homelessness. (Sparks Tribune)
  2. Girl Scout cookie season is here, and the Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada will be selling cookies around the Reno area starting Friday, Feb. 17. This year, the Girls Scouts are introducing a new flavor, the Raspberry Rally, that is similar to the popular Thin Mint but with raspberry flavoring instead of mint. (KOLO)
  3. The Reno Police Department recently released the body camera footage from a recent officer-involved shooting. On Jan. 8, officers responded to a call at an apartment complex on Sky Valley Dr. During the incident, one of the two suspects was killed and the other was taken to the hospital for shooting injuries, while one of the responding police officers was also shot and hospitalized.
