- A Reno man was arrested by the California Highway Patrol after stealing a Jeep Cherokee and leading officers on a high-speed chase. Ryan Bonnett, 35, was detained after the 15-minute pursuit which reached speeds of over 85 miles per hour before ending on Highway 108. Bonnett was booked into the Tuolumne County Jail and faces charges of evading, possession of a stolen vehicle, and possession of stolen property. (MyMotherLode.com)
- The Nevada Diabetes Association is hosting its 6th Annual Winter Wonderland fundraiser today at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa in Reno. The community is invited to attend the fun-filled event, which features winter-themed samples from regional restaurants and bars, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom. Tickets are $70 and can be purchased online, in person at The Shoppes Atlantis, or by calling the Nevada Diabetes Association at (775) 856-3839. (KOLO)
- The University of Nevada, Reno is asking for donations to help support students facing food insecurity. In coordination with Pack Provisions, the university seeks to raise $25,000 before the end of the year to provide perishable and nonperishable foods, grocery funds, school supplies, and hygiene items to members of the campus community.
