- The Reno Police Department has filled all of the police officer positions it has budgeted for, but officials say that the city needs more officers. Since 2008, the city has lost 48 officer positions even while the city's population crew increased 23 percent in the same timespan, meaning that overall, the city has fewer officers per-capita than other cities of similar size. (Reno Gazette Journal)
- Sky Tavern Ski Area's fundraising campaign successfully raised the $2.4 million needed to purchase snowmaking equipment. The new equipment will be enough to cover the front half of the resort's 143 acres. The non-profit ski area is planning a second fundraising campaign to purchase more snowmaking equipment to cover the remaining acres. (Subscription: Reno Gazette Journal)
- Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve released a statement over the weekend regarding the death of Tyre Nichols. In the statement, Shieve denounced the actions of the former police officers involved in Nichols' death and offered links to resources for people in need of support. (Press Release Desk)
