Here are the top three stories today in Reno:

  1. The Reno Police Department, the Nevada State Police, and the Washoe County Sheriff's Office are cracking down on illegal sideshow operations in Reno. The three departments conducted an operation over the weekend that led to 22 traffic stops, 19 citations, one arrest for DUI, and one towed vehicle. Police will continue the zero-tolerance attitude toward those who engage in these sideshows. (FoxReno.com)
  2. The Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) is experiencing an influx in travel this season – the highest its been since 2008. RNO expects about 60,000 travelers over Thanksgiving weekend, so be prepared for airport traffic as construction has closed former passenger drop-off lanes, reducing entrances and narrowing the Ticketing Hall. (KRNV)
  3. The Washoe County School District received a $3.8 million grant from the U.S. Office of Indian Education for Native American students to prepare for college and careers. The school district plans on hiring six new staff members with the funds, who will advise and support the students as they transition into college. (KUNR Public Radio)
