  1. Seventeen members of the Reno Fire Department responded to the Reno Town Mall on Monday due to a hazmat scare. A security guard at the mall reported spotting a homeless person throw a "white powdery substance" on the security desk, prompting the call to the fire department around 6:00 p.m. The department's hazmat team determined the substance did not contain any hazardous material.   2. The Reno Sparks Convention Center is the new home of winter pickleball in Reno. According to Bob Basso of the Truckee Meadows Pickleball Club, more than 2,000 people in the area play the sport, which resembles a smaller version of tennis. The Reno Sparks Sportsplex inside the convention center offers pickleball play between 8:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on weekdays and between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on weekends. (KOLO)
  3. A 44-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a pair of arson fires in the Reno area this summer. Matthew Kimmens is accused of starting the two separate fires on Aug. 14, destroying one home and dealing significant property damage to three more. Kimmens was arrested on Nov. 23 and also faces two domestic battery charges. (Fox News)
