- Subpoenas were granted to determine who installed a tracking device on Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve's vehicle. Washoe County District Judge David Hardy approved the subpoenas last week, forcing David McNeely and his private investigation firm to reveal who hired him to track the mayor. Mayor Schieve filed a lawsuit last month after finding a GPS tracking device on her vehicle, which provided minute-by-minute updates of her real-time location. (KRNV)
- Dave Cochran, the Reno fire chief, could face a violation after appearing in a commercial last summer. The fire chief wore his uniform with other fire officials in a campaign supporting Nevada Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto. The Nevada Ethics Commission is deciding whether Cochran violated the state's ethics. (KRNV)
- Apartment rates in the Reno-Sparks area have decreased for the second quarter. The average rent in Reno last month was $1,625 compared to $1,654 the previous quarter. Nevada State Apartment Association’s Executive Director, Robin Lee, said, “Reno’s flat growth in rents is likely due, at least in part, to the wave of apartment development across the area, with 1,300 new units added over the past year.” (Subscription: Reno Gazette Journal)
