Here are the top three stories in Reno today:

  1. Nearby in Sparks, Nevada, Slim Chickens officially opened its doors to the public on Los Altos Parkway for its most western location to date. The restaurant celebrated its expansion in-house this past Friday with a family day with the staff members who will be serving the customers and their families. About 125 employees have been hired for this site with plans to open another location in Damonte Ranch this year. From different styles of chicken to wraps, salads, and desserts, Slim Chickens offers a wide variety of menu items. (KTVN)
  2. This year, Revamp Studio in Reno will be holding the second annual Show and Shine event in front of the studio as an affiliate with Wigs for Kids. The event will have a $20 entry fee that includes a 50/50 raffle, food, music, and an opportunity to let the owner and stylist Keri Polasik cut your hair and donate it to make wigs for children who do not have hair due to medical issues. For more information on and surrounding the event you can click here, it will run from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Jun. 25. (KOLO)
  3. Reno's Food & Drink Week is very much in effect now until Jun. 16, and many local businesses are promoting their products for the Reno community like Dorinda's Chocolates. Dorinda and her husband originally started their business in Truckee, California and with community support, they settled in Reno. As a non-essential business during the pandemic, hard times came with getting rid of staff and trying to figure out how to operate, and it was the Reno community ordering online that helped the business not just stay afloat, but flourish again. Dorinda's Chocolate is just one of the many local treats to look into this week, for more information you can click here. (KTVN)
