- After three schools in northwest Reno were placed on lockdown, the threat was determined to be unfounded. On Monday afternoon, police placed Mamie Towles, Clayton Middle School, and St. Albert's Catholic School on a code red lockdown. The lockdown was due to reports of a juvenile wearing a ski mask and carrying a gun in St Albert’s parking lot. After investigation, police have determined the potential threat to be unfounded. - A Reno man has been found guilty of battery and other charges after an argument over dog food. After a three-day trial, Kenneth Pinny has been found guilty of home invasion with a deadly weapon, battery with a deadly weapon, and residential burglary with a deadly weapon; he faces up to 40 years in prison. Police initially arrested Pinney in March of 2022 after the assault, which escalated from a dispute regarding Pinney feeding dog food to the victim's cat. (KOLO)
- Reno music shop Recycled Records is moving out of Midtown. Increasing rent, among other factors, spurred the local record shop to move.
