  1. The Reno Fire Department issued a reminder to stay off the ice as ponds, rivers, and other bodies of water continue to freeze over across Northern Nevada. Officials say weather in the region is not reliable enough for the water to freeze over completely, increasing the risk of falling through the ice. Anyone who witnesses someone fall through the ice is asked to call 911 immediately and avoid attempting a rescue. (KOLO)
  2. The Washoe County Sheriff's Office will be dedicating extra patrols through Jan. 3, 2023, in an effort to increase roadway safety. Funding for the additional patrols was provided by a Joining Forces grant via the Nevada Department of Public Safety/Office of Traffic Safety. (KOLO)
  3. A new study from AAA found that gas prices in Washoe County are currently higher than the average for the state of California. The average price for a gallon of gas in Washoe County on Monday was $4.60, compared to $4.37 in the Golden State. According to a spokesperson from the Regional Transportation Commission, the higher price is due in part to the county's RTC fuel tax. (KRNV)
