Here are the top three stories in Reno today:

  1. Over the past weekend, Wedekind Road Art Project hosted an Art Block Party, where members of the community designed and painted murals to be displayed on Wedekind Road. Local artists did live art demonstrations to show their talent, even inviting attendees to grab a paintbrush and contribute to the mini murals themselves. During the party, there was live music, food trucks, and much more to sweeten the experience. Part of the event was funded by the City of Reno's Art Belongs Here grant. (KTVN)
  2. This past Sunday, Project 150 Reno held an open house event at its new Foster Drive facility in northwest Reno. Project 150 Reno helps provide more than 3,500 high school students across 30 high schools with essentials such as food, clothing, and school supplies; appointments are scheduled for students to "shop." Since opening in 2019, the nonprofit has seen its numbers double. (KOLO)
  3. This past Friday, the city of Reno hosted its first of two free swim and popsicle community days at Traner Pool, sponsored by Ward 3 Reno City Councilmember Miguel Martinez. The second pool day will be on Friday, Jul. 23 from 12:45 to 4:00 p.m.; free admission and popsicles are limited to the first 150 people to arrive. The Traner Pool opened for the summer on Jun. 10 and will be open until Aug. 13, with open and family swim available daily from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. (KTVN)
