• BLM approves new power line project to reduce Spanish Springs outages (rgj.com) — Spanish Springs residents in north Sparks could see fewer power outages after the BLM approved a new 13-mile transmission line and two substations to boost reliability. With rapid housing growth in the area, officials say temporary visual and recreational impacts will be minor and outweighed by long-term improvements once construction begins in 2027.
   

• Holiday patrols expand with Impaired Joining Forces effort (2news.com) — Sparks Police are stepping up DUI and traffic enforcement from December 16 through January 5 as part of a statewide Joining Forces campaign. Expect more visible patrols aimed at catching impaired drivers and educating the public, with officers stressing that a cheap rideshare is far better than risking a costly, dangerous DUI.
